The TV Works and the Pajamas Have Resurfaced, and Random and Happy Tuesday Post

***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus

It's a good sign at Carl's when i arrive and he's already in his sleep chair, it usually means he has work.

All i have to do is start in on laundry, and i did.  The empty washer was set to an actual wash cycle, not just a rinse and spin, and the items in the dryer got the sniff test.  They initially passed, still i ran the dryer for long enough to warm the clothes up a bit.  If an odor is going to make itself known, it will happen when the clothes are warm.  In this case, all was good.

Proceeding into his room,

he's been kicking off his blanket in the night.  It must be summer.

I played, what's in this bag?

he brought home the napkins and ketchup packets.

The empty supplement container was in the sock drawer which was empty of most of it's socks.

Then there's what's missing, his bathroom trash can should be right here.  I later stumbled across it in the main kitchen, with the recycle cans.

His fridge was almost all drinks.  It's summer, he's concerned with staying hydrated more than anything else, until he gets hungey, that is..

There was only one clean pair of underwear, and it had a single clean sock wrapped up in it.  What he was going to do with underwear and only one sock, even i cannot hazard a guess.

The dryer balls and pajama bottoms have made a reappearance from wherever they went last week.  Maybe they were all on vacation, and maybe next time they'll take me along.

When Carl finally got up for the morning, he came in remarking about his breath, and once he'd taken care of the situation, began to talk.

"Had the strangest dream..." he said, leaving it in an ellipsis.  I told him i was sorry he was having strange dreams and he said, "No, I like them!"  He may have my share, then.

"We had family Zoom last night," he continued.

You got to talk to your family and your cousins? i asked.

"Um, what do you call, extended family?"

Yes, cousins, i told him.  It makes things easier.  If the person is from your parent's generation, call the person "aunt" or "uncle," if from your generation, consider them cousins.

He didn't look too certain about this but moved on to asking about sunscreen.

"I need the code," he said.  I looked at him questioningly and he said, "My new card, to get it activated, gotta get the code from Yahoo, but i can't get it.

That's one for his parents to field, i thought to myself as he fixed his breakfast and i made sandwiches.

He talked about artists and concerts, and said he went to see Sam, the young lady he sometimes takes out to dinner.

"We wanted to watch a movie," he said, "but she wanted to watch something and I said, no, let's watch this, and it was hard to agree."

Carl is late to this game and is finding out many times, he wants to watch action, she wants something lighter, and he's not sure how to handle it.

While we were in the kitchen and i was making lunch while he had breakfast, he talked a bit about the worries of politics and current events.  He thinks deeply about them, although he doesn't always know how to express it, so i just let him talk.

"And our phone line doesn't work," he added at one point to something totally different he'd been telling me about.  They are having trouble with internet and the VOIP phone isn't working.  "The TV is fine," he was quick to reassure me.  That's the most important part, of course.

Once he was ready, and i'd made him change shirts because the first one got cereal spilled on it ("put on your apron!" i keep telling him), he ran out the door asking for glasses and sunscreen.  The latter he had in the car, the former, well, he lost the 20 pair his mother bought him in bulk last year.

Oh, and he's always ready to remind me he's just a big kid.

A Sunday school project from the special needs adult class.

How about some funnies.

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!

  2. Carl is always enteraining to read about - I'mso happy I do not have to do your job, My patioence would snap, I'm afraid ... but maybe it's easier with other peoples children - even when the child is grown up on the outside. In any case I admire your patience.

  3. It is amazing how "organized" he is some weeks and a disaster the next. Mom remembers the last time she saw/used a tv with antennas and no remote. It was in New Orleans on a layover and she said it was just awful as she was so used to cable and remotes.

  4. Well, I did bake my own bread but I didn't know it was the right day. Carl is such a mixture of astute and not, organized and not. He seems to get along well though, people and activities in his life.

  5. Those old TVs with tubes are super heavy! A few years back, we finally threw out our old 27" analog TV. It felt like such a beast carrying it down the driveway...well, I didn't take it down. DH did! I would've never gotten it down there. The flat screen we have is from 2008 and it's quite heavy. Newer models are much lighter. The TV funnies are a hoot!

  6. I love Carl, but you already know that. I know we get to hear about Carl every Tuesday morning. Excellent.

Love all the funnies and the television on made me laugh out loud. I was the remote control too. I also remember turning on the television five minutes before we were going to watch a show so it would warm up. I'm old.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Love and hugs, my friend. ♥

  10. It's funny you can tell what it's going to be like by where Carl is when you get there. Those were really good funnies.

  12. I remember my brother standing beside the TV with one hand on one of the "rabbit ears" so the reception was better. I also remember slapping the side of the TV sometimes helped fix the "horizontal hold" but not always. I am glad I now have a flat screen TV.

  14. Like you say, he's just a big kid! The funnies reminded me that we had the first colour TV in our street and the neighbours flocked to see it!
