Like a spider's web interconnects and movement at one place can be felt all the way from the center, every strand of life these days is touched when you don't have reliable transportation, and it magnifies when you can't count on your phone, either.
Monday, my Sweetie called to tell me Slow-Moe (yes, we name our cars, don't judge) wouldn't start, he was stuck in a parking lot and someone had tried to help him jump start it with no luck, so as soon as i was done with my first job i went over there and it started for me; he ran it to Kevin and Lenny's for them to check it out and i had to give up on my idea of having him run some of my errands while i did my other two jobs, my phone getting repaired would have to wait.
Kevin and Lenny's mechanics couldn't find anything wrong, but on Tuesday morning, once again, he ran one errand successfully for The Big Boss and then went to do something else, and it wouldn't start for either of us, so we called for a tow and the tow driver got it started; my Sweetie drove it to Kevin and Lenny's place and this time they figured it was the starter and replaced it, while i couldn't get the phone fixed because of my eye doctor appointment.
Wednesday my Sweetie picked Slow Moe up from Kevin and Lenny's and an hour later it wouldn't start again; they sent a mechanic to our house this time (we're only around the corner) and he couldn't get it going for anything, but eventually Sweetie did get her to crank so Slow Moe is back in the shop and they're doing everything they can; while i was out working i got away early and got my phone to the shop, the part ordered did not totally fix the problem but it's better and i can't afford to order another part simply in hopes it will do the trick when they aren't sure.
Meanwhile we are relying on poor GusGus who has seen better days and now has no A/C and the driver's side window doesn't roll down, and i have cat sitting and we both have work and it's going to be a long day as we wait for word on what might be wrong, we might be back to renting a car every Friday for the trip to NOLA each week, and of course my phone might work well today and might not.
It's just how life goes when every strand is interconnected, you can't do one thing without the other, and there's a hole in the bucket, dear 'Liza, dear 'Liza...

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day! This week's image and my poem:
from bop and stroll
to rock 'n roll
we swing and sway
each and every day
we'll be bold
as we grow old
disgracefully!

I am so sorry to read about your current car and phone woes. I hope an economical solution can be found. Quickly.
ReplyDeletePhew. There's something about cars not working that leaves us feeling lost and forlorn, not only the trouble it gives us, but the lack of dependable someting I can't define. I just felt so lost when this happens - and that's one of the reasons I do not own a car anymore. I can cuss at the buses - even phone the company, carry my broken bike, but a car ... you can just sit and wait.
ReplyDeleteAh ... a fence at last. Thank you. God bless.
ReplyDeleteHmm, cars. Much grief (tsk-tsk).
ReplyDeleteFun poem and an interesting fence. Sorry to hear that the car wants to act up more than it wants to run. Maybe it's thinking it's time for it to have a vacation.
ReplyDeleteWhen things we depend on don't work it really hoses up life. We went through that with Mom's laptop in April. It is her job, she is on it every day all day and when it died everything went to pieces. Hopefully the new one will be nice to us for several years. She needs a new phone too but she hates to waste money on phones so keeps putting it off.
ReplyDeleteayyiee... the worst things cars do is save their malfunctioning for the most opportune times... between the two technologies, the phone seems to be the most critical.... (damn! flashback to roadside breakdowns pre-cell phones... the walking!!!)
ReplyDeleteOh my! I hope everything is working well for you soon!
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be holes in several of your buckets. I like today's fence and the image and poem too.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry about the car woes. It is amazing how much we rely on transportation to get everything done. We hope the mechanics can really figure it out. Maybe there are gremlins hiding in the engine and playing tricks on you.
ReplyDeleteCar problems, ugh. I hope it gets sorted out somehow. That was a really fun poem and a really true thankful. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the car problems. I had a similar issue once and I think it was the alternator. Great poem.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the car problems. I hope everything goes well with it.
ReplyDeleteIts so creative to use the prompt "strand" to write a real life story. I'm sorry to read of the mechanical problems. I hope you'll find strength and grace to manage the situations. I enjoyed your poem on growing old gracefully. That's a neat wood fence for the fence theme.
ReplyDeleteA totally perfect poem for the Granny Band photo! I think these ladies will be young forever....and ever. Thanks for playing along with us!
