Censoring Père (Cajun Joke), Sunday Selections and Sunday Selfie

 ***********************************

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

While at Grandma and Grandpa's house yesterday, my Sweetie and i went to a local BBQ place and got Grandpa his Father's Day gift, a boatload (technical term) of BBQ chicken, pulled pork, and ribs, with sides, enough to share and let him have a feast for a couple of days.

Clothile done read in de newspaper dat dey be wantin' stories 'bout what you father usta say so's dey can put it in de paper on Father's Day.

So she be talkin' 'bout some o' de t'ings her Père usta done say, "Chile, you givin' me de agita," an' "Je vous aime comme un petit cochon aime la boue" ("I love you like the little pig loves the mud").

Den Boudreaux done say, "Mais, I not goin' be write to dem, what my Père usta say dey cain't print in de family paper!"

Sunday Selections was started as a way for bloggers to use photos that might otherwise just languish in their files.  The rules have been relaxed, and it is now simply a showcase for your photos, new or old, good or bad, although nothing rude, please.  It was hosted by River, who still participates, and is now hosted by Elephant's Child.

I managed to capture an anole a bit up close and personal, a couple of flowers and a few sky shots.

Dodge, Weave, Recalculate, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

 ***********************************

I've reached Thankful Day still a bit strung out, and there's no real solution yet, so we continue to dodge, weave, recalculate, figure a different way, find a work around, do the best we can.

We're thankful we can, as we spent a week dodging traffic jams, weaving around car trouble, recalculating how to get things done, figuring and finding way when there seemed to be no way.

Last Saturday, Uncle J decided we needed to try something different and get our lunches from Subway.  I'm thankful they have a salad with a veggie patty, and when mine showed up minus the patty, i'm thankful i was able to eat the snack i'd brought instead. take the salad home and grab a veggie patty out of the freezer.

Much of last week i was back to using the "house phone," a cheap mobile phone we keep with minimal data and calls and texts just as a spare and a back up.  It's also used, when one of us is home alone and can't find the regular phone, to call it and locate the doggone things!  We're glad we have it, when one of our phones really won't work, we have a work around.

This week, i was thankful to have it to supplement my ailing phone, which i was thankful to finally have time to take in to the repair shop on Wednesday, which opened late because of staffing problems.  I'm thankful i only had to wait a half hour.

The repair only partially worked, my phone still has something wrong with it, but it's better and the shop didn't charge me for the work since it's still not right.

I'm thankful it partially worked and I can use my phone, limping along, for a while longer.

Slow-Moe the car is still the topic of the season, though.  It didn't start on Monday, i was thankful to be able to go to where my Sweetie was with it and it started finally so he took it to Kevin and Lenny.

They found nothing wrong, until it didn't start again on Tuesday, then did, then didn't, and they decided on the starter.  We were thankful they replaced it and we got the car on Wednesday.

An hour later, again it wouldn't start.  We got it going and got it back to the shop, and this time they decided when they changed the starter it loosened some wiring.

We're thankful they fixed it at no charge, and we got it back Thursday.  Friday, Sweetie ran errands and i went to the shelter in it, and then that evening, again, Slow-Moe wouldn't crank.

#2 Son got under and messed with it and said he could hear the starter trying, it just wasn't making a connection.  It finally started, thankfully, but it's not reliable enough for us to use until we can get it back to the shop and get it really fixed.

We're thankful Mr. JO is lending us the truck today so we can go to NOLA, since tomorrow is Father's Day and today is the day we will buy Grandpa his celebratory Father's Day BBQ feast.

I'm thankful for time, between all the other craziness, with this little wiggle worm.

The eye doctor says my right eye has no inflammation so i will not need a second surgery, thankfully.  My left eye is scheduled for mid-July and i'm thankful for the excellent news and for getting on with the second cataract removal.

I'm thankful after a lot of figuring and some clever timing shifts, my pre-surgery check-up with Dr. Bow-Tie is scheduled, although it means i will have to put off my regular yearly check-up until later.

Cat care for Ms. G while she was out of town went well, and i'm very thankful she allows me to get there when i can, as long as it's by around 8am at the latest.

This week, I'm very thankful for rain boots while tramping in her back yard to feed the birds.

My Sweetie and i are both thankful i was able to fix Ms. SE's vacuum cleaner again, thankful the house was again in relatively good order when we got there, and thankful there's more than one way for us to get home when the traffic piles up and you have to recalculate your route.

I'm thankful for being able to dodge lots of very deep water on the roads Friday morning, thankful there's more than one way to get where i need to go, and thankful the standing water was draining off quickly after our serious dousing.

The plants are thankful for the water, and i'm sure the farmers are, too.

The Big Boss wanted some things ordered and my Sweetie ran into a snag when the credit card the Boss lets him carry wouldn't go through for an online purchase.  We're thankful the bank's AI computer called Sweetie's phone asking for the Boss and Sweetie has been told by said Boss, "When you are doing my business, you are me!"  My Sweetie was able to confirm for the computer the charge was legit and the purchase was made.

The shelter was packed for my evening shift, both adopters and a Girl Scout troop which had earned badges by making hammocks for the cat cages as well as cardboard cat scratchers from their leftover cardboard boxes the cookies came in this year.  They also made a clever trifold pamphlet explaining how to make a cat hammock and left them with us to hand out to anyone interested.  We're always thankful for volunteers and people who work with us to make a difference.

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Clark and his co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.
